PAS Women Condemns Mosque Attacks in Christchurch
The world is shocked by the ruthless mass shootings which occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand. The attacks took place during Friday prayers yesterday at two locations, namely Al Noor Mosque at Deans Avenue and Linwood Mosque at Linwood Avenue.
Sources from Astro Awani reported that two Malaysians, a father and a son, were also involved in this attack. However, the total number of victims affected in this tragedy is still under investigation.
Members of PAS women collectively denounce this merciless act of violence committed by inhumane shooters. We are saddened by this incident where innocent civilians were targeted while attending the Friday congregation at local mosques.
Authorities in Christchurch and New Zealand are urged to take prompt actions against the perpetrators and that they will be convicted with mandatory sentencing for this grave crime.
New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, has officially made an announcement, urging local citizens to take precautionary measures, be more vigilant, and remain indoors to avoid any unnecessary incident.
As such, PAS women strongly wants to highlight that Islam is a beautiful religion, and it represents ad-deen, the way of life. Islam is not fascism; instead, Islam teaches its followers to show kindness to everyone regardless of their skin colour or religion.
PAS women would also like to express our utmost sadness, and we offer our deepest condolences to the victims and their families who are involved in this adversity. May Allah SWT grant them among the syuhada martyrs.
Let us all pray that Allah grants constant protection and ease for all Malaysians as well as the people in Christchurch, New Zealand.
