A Terengganu PAS leader has suggested that the party be allowed to use its logo in the coming general election.

This came after party president Abdul Hadi Awang previously said PAS had agreed in principle to use the new Perikatan Nasional (PN) logo.

“Due to the differences in politics at the national level and in the east coast, I would like to suggest to PN leaders that Terengganu use the PAS logo in the upcoming general election,” said Terengganu PN election director Ariffin Deraman.

“It’s not that our (state) leadership doesn’t accept the PN logo, but we ask that a survey be conducted in Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu to see which logo is more acceptable to the people there.”

The Terengganu executive councillor said he would have no problems using the PN logo if the survey found that it was acceptable to voters in the east coast.

“The important thing is we want to win big in the upcoming election,” added the Alur Limbat assemblyman during his debate at the PN Convention here.

PN is still in its infancy in Terengganu, with the state-level PN only launched on July 30.

On July 22, Hadi said PAS had agreed in principle to use the new PN logo in GE15.

On July 11, PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said the coalition would be introducing a new logo for GE15 following a suggestion made by the PN Supreme Council.

Prior to that, Muhyiddin claimed that Hadi had agreed to use PN’s logo in GE15, saying the PAS leadership “can confirm this”.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man later played down the matter, saying the party had not made any decision on which logo its candidates should use.
